A set of singing bowls designed to accompany you on your personal or professional healing journey, these hand-hammered, beautifully finished instruments bridge artistic expression, scientific detail and musical precision.

These seven bowls have been carefully selected by Silence & Noise founder Janie for their overall quality, resonance, craftsmanship and playability. Whether you are just beginning your sound journey or are a seasoned practitioner, these bowls are easy to play and produce beautiful bright, deep, powerful sounds for application both on and off body.

Your bowls have been crafted by hand in the Kathmandu Valley, where the art of manufacturing these precious instruments has been alive for hundreds of years through the indigenous Newari people. Our suppliers are descendants of these early artisans, continuing to share their heritage and sacred skillset with future generations. The factory where these bowls are produced is run with care and consideration and our showroom team support us - and you - with the very best in renowned Nepalese customer service.

BENEFITS

Sound Healing

Use your bowls as tool to create beautiful sonic spaces for stress and anxiety management, cortisol control, nervous system recovery/reset, and deep relaxation.

Vibrational Healing

Your bowls can be used on body to apply vibration and frequency topically for therauptic purposes. Experiment on yourself or explore our training courses and online workshops to get started with the necessary science and skills.

Chakra Balancing

In the Himalayan tradition, each chakra (energy centre) in the human body has a corresponding note and frequency. Utilising these bowls specifically on certain chakras can support harmonisation, balance and clarity as part of a holistic approach to sound and bodywork.

Brainwave Entrainment

Sound is a powerful non-invasive tool for manipulating brainwaves. Research shows that Himalayan bowls are an excellent way to bring the brain into Alpha brainwave states which support deep meditation, focus, cognitive performance and emotional clarity.

PRODUCT DETAILS

You are purchasing 7 bowls ranging from 26 -16cm depending on note selection, and are delivered in third octave as standard for optimum physiological resonance.

We supply these bowls in 'chord' sets to support harmonious musical performance. The sets have the lowest note as the largest bowls and can be completely nested so they fit into one bag at a weight of around 9kg.

You may choose from:

C Major (C - D - E - F - G - A - B) - Third Octave

Uplifting, expansive, outward energy

D Minor (D - E - F - G - A - Bb - C) - Third Octave

Curious, reflective, inward energy

MATERIALS

Whilst it is true that many metal singing bowls are indeed made of seven metals, this is truly not a desirable composition in sonic terms! In the Vedic and Himalayan tradition, the seven original planets (seen by the naked eye from Earth) are represented in material/alchemical form by seven metals:

Sun - Gold, representing perfecting and light

Moon - Silver, representing intuition and the subconscious

Mercury - Mercury, representing the mind and adaptability

Venus - Copper, representing beauty and balance

Mars - Iron, representing strength and willpower

Jupiter - Tin, representing expansion and wisdom

Saturn - Lead, representing structure and discipline

However, both mercury and lead have absolutely no resonance whatsoever and additionally are highly toxic to humans! Gold and silver are actually very soft metals that do not audibly resonate. So in fact, for the highest sonic integrity, expertly crafted singing bowls should ideally be made primarily of bell metal bronze - an alloy of around 78-80% copper and 20-22% tin, which together create a magical mix of elasticity and hardness that sustains sound. The perfect recipe is the generational secret of the artisans and is being expanded upon by the rising creatives increasingly bringing more metallurgical and musical intelligence to singing bowl production.

Whilst many bowls on the market do include all 7 metals in trace format, our classic bowls have been selected from the perspective of sonic excellence, and therefore are a pure Bell Metal Bronze, and do not include trace of other metals that would reduce their resonance.

We DO stock other bowls that do include more of the seven metal alloy, but the best makers in the world right now also agree that these are not required or desirable elements and so do not include them all.

YOUR FINISH

This set is finished in antique patina electroplating for a more mystical feel. The full moon symbol - a version of the Tibetian Shou Lotus - is engraved in on the front and the reverse has the Om Mani Padme Hum mantra carved in Nepalese.

WHAT IS A REPLICA BOWL?

This bowl is our CLASSIC bowl, with a visual finish to feel similar to the true Full Moon Bowls which were first created by master artisan Santa Ratna Shakya in Kathmandu in 2014. The true Full Moon Bowls are made ONLY one a month on the fullness of the lunar cycle, under which Himalayan beliefs and astrology teach that the energy of completion, illumination and expansion are infused into the alchemy of the metal, the hammering, and the crafting process.

There are a LOT of false Full Moon Bowls out there being sold as the real deal - and Silence & Noise is very very clear that these particular bowls ARE REPLICA - designed to look like full moon bowls rather than ACTUAL full moon bowls. There is no mis-selling here, total transparency!

A true full moon set from Santa Ratna Shakya's team, or another made by Master Sajan whose bowls are also of an elevated, premium level and the full moon variation absolutely authentic, are also available on our website. You will notice that these are significantly more expensive (often around £10'000 for a set). We have therefore sourced these replica bowls which remain at our very high standard, as an alternative for those wishing to enjoy and capture the essence of the full moon story without the price tag.

NOTE ON IMAGES: The stock image and shots in the warehouse showing blue shelving are literally exactly the colour the bowl reads. I also took two shots outside to show how it glows in natural sunlight.
