This listing is for the incredible AUTHENTIC Full Moon Set of 7 bowls designed by one of the world's leading artisan masters, Sajan Thalipya. Also known as Universal bowls, this set of full moon bowls is in our view (and that of the wider bowl-manufacturing industry) the very best quality available in the world right now. Sajan is a master sound healer and his bowls represent the gold standard for professional sound practitioners.
Like all full moon bowls (a concept first developed by Santa Ratna Shakya in 2014) they are made just once a month, under the light and energy of the full moon. This rarity makes a true full moon bowl a limited edition, hence their price tag. Silence & Noise founder Janie recently had the opportunity to sit with Sajan to discuss what makes his bowls so incredibly resonant and special. The secret is naturally in the both the high quality of the manufacture but more specifically in the refined metal mix that Sajan has developed for these bowls - he is constantly reviewing the microscopic detail of the alloy and how it blends. These bowls are of course predominantly copper and tin with a higher than usual silver content, which contributes to their unique sound profile. Sajan works with the understanding of and respect for the Vedic 7 metal concept, but his priority is on delivering epic sound quality, so you won't find anything more than the tiniest trace of iron, zinc, or gold in these bowls. Rich harmonics, extended sustains and powerful resonance are the hallmark of these true masterpieces.
Visually, the set features the Tibetian full moon lingam symbol, along with the full moon mantra carved beneath it. The traditional Om Mani Padme Hum mantra is carved onto the reverse of the bowl. The mantra on the front reads “Om Som Somaya Namaha,” meaning “I honor the moon, the giver of peace.” This lunar mantra invokes the moon god, Chandra, and is known for promoting balance and calm.
ॐ (Om): The cosmic sound, representing divine energy.
सौं (Saum/Som): Linked to lunar energy or Goddess Mahalakshmi, symbolizing prosperity and power.
सो (So): Signifies the soul or personal existence.
माय (Maay): Means “Mother,” representing divine love and grace.
नमः (Namah): A respectful bow or salutation to higher energies.
Energetically, full moon bowls are truly something special. Not only do they capture the astrological attunement and spiritual frequency of the lunar cycle, but the interaction between the metals and the changed environmental energy truly does transform the alloy in terms of resonance - true full moon bowls do just sound different to regular singing bowls - more expansive, resonant, with longer sustains and ever so slightly cosmic and shimmery overtones. They are especially suited to sound massage and 1:1 work and represent the only quality and craftsmanship on the market that is comparable with the original full moon bowls by Santa Ratna Shakya. These bowls are finished in a soft silvery gold colour.
